Abstract: Withthe emergence of in-vehicle applications, providing the required computationalcapabilities is becoming a crucial problem. This paper proposes a frameworknamed Autonomous Vehicular Edge (AVE) for edge computing on the road, with theaim of increasing the computational capabilities of vehicles in a decentralizedmanner. By managing the idle computational resources on vehicles and using themefficiently, the proposed AVE framework can provide computation services indynamic vehicular environments without requiring particular infrastructures tobe deployed.
Speaker Biography: Zhi Liu receivedthe B.E., in computer science and technology from the University of Science andTechnology of China, China, in 2009 and Ph.D. degree in informatics in NationalInstitute of Informatics and The Graduate University for Advanced Studies(Sokendai) Tokyo, Japan. He is currently an Assistant Professor at ShizuokaUniversity and an adjunct researcher at Waseda University, Japan. He was aJunior Researcher (Assistant Professor) at Waseda University from Dec. 2104 toMar. 2017, and a JSPS research fellow in National Institute of Informatics andThe Graduate University for Advanced Studies (Sokendai) from Apr. 2012 to Nov.2014.
Hisresearch interest includes wireless networks and video transmission. He was therecipient of the IEEE StreamComm2011 best student paper award, VTC2014-SpringYoung Researchers Encouragement Award and 2015 IEICE Young Researchers’ Award.He is and has been a Guest Editor of Wireless Communications and Mobile Computing,Sensors and IEICE Transactions on Information and Systems. He has been servingas the TPC-chair of 2017 IEEE Workshop on Game Theory in ComputerCommunications, The First International Workshop on Smart Multimedia (SmartMM2017),2017 IEEE Workshop on Game Theory in Computer Communications. He is a member ofIEEE and IEICE.
